MEGHALAYA'S DANCE, MUSIC AND VIBRANT COSTUMES

Celebrations in Meghalaya are incomplete without dance and music involvement💃,

Meghalaya dance forms an integral part of the culture and is important🎊.

Some of the Meghalaya dances are shad sukmysiem ,

derogata, do dru Sua, laho, shad nongkrem .

The land comes alive with these wonderful dance performances,

and great songs accompanied by the sound of traditional instruments🎶.

The dance at Meghalaya is performed at every society’s level,

like birth, marriage, annual festivals💒.

The dance forms in the state are dedicated to various events,

such as social, agricultural, religious and recreational🎉.

Shawl is another costume which is important,

Its colours are bright and vibrant🎭.

The traditional costume is unstitched garment,

is made of Mulberry silk which is worn around the body called as Jainsen .

The Garo tribes wear a blouse along with Dakmanda with floral patterns🌸,

The Khasi Tribes wear Jainsen along with a blouse and Gold or silver ornaments.
